- There are ten technical
chapters
consisting of an introductory section with several instructional deals,
followed by problem deals.
- Two ‘fun’
chapters (6 and 12)
feature the well-known David Bird characters, the nuns of St. Hilda’s
pitched in
battle with the monks of St. Titus.
- After the
auction (which
contains quizzes along the way), you can play each deal against the
computer. The explanation that follows also contains many quiz
questions to
guide you along.
- All deals
are also available in
random order (without revealing the deal type unless you choose to
peek)
in a separate chapter (Ch 13). This chapter also features an index by
deal type
with links to the deals concerned.
- To allow you
to
experiment with play and defense, each deal is also available
in the
Play Free mode.
- (new) Variable
defense has been incorporated in several
deals. This means that, even for the same line of play by declarer,
cards
played by the defenders may vary in successive attempts (typically in
discarding situations as in squeezes).
- (new) Dual View,
that is, two window sizes (800x600 &
1024x768 pixels) are available. You can toggle between them with a
single
mouse click. When the larger size is used, extra large cards are
optionally
available.
- (new) Off-line
help using the default browser. This means
that you will not leave the page you are reading while you consult the
Help
section. Previously, the extensive Help section was implemented as a
separate
‘chapter’ of the program. That chapter is still there, but it has now
been
reduced to its bare bones to get you started.
- (new) Many images
are presented, some humorous, others
featuring beautiful glass-stained windows. The latter are located
between the
deals in Chapters 6 and 12, and may (optionally) be accompanied by
appropriate
sounds (monks’ choir) and light effects (as if you are viewing the
window from
within a darkened cathedral). Explanatory texts are shown also.
- (new) All the
choral pieces are available in the special
Colophon section, both individually and grouped, with visual effects.
